Star Wars Dinner in aid of Medicinema - 2nd Feb 2012

The Hilton on Park Lane was the venue for a spectacular event to raise funds for Medicinema a charity that provide cinemas for children's hospitals.

The room was filled with Imperial Storm troopers and other assorted characters from the Star Wars Films including Darth Vader, Darth Maul, R2D2 and Bobafett. Some of the original actors from the films were also at the event Warrick Davies who played Ewok Wicket, Jeremy Bullock who was Bobafett and NIck Gillard who was the stuntman and fight director on the films.

The evening was hosted by Edith Bowman and Alex Zane and othe celebrities attending were Linda Lusardi, Vennessa Phelps,Tom and Danny from Mc Fly and Martin Bayfield who conducted the auction which raised in excess of £80,000 for the charity.

I often photograph conferences and corporate events and its something I enjoy and also find fascinating as you always end up learning things you never would have otherwise.

Boxing Evening at The Grosvenor House December 2011

One of my favourite venues is the Grosvenor House in London and Im fortunate to work there quite often. The most recent visit just before Christmas was to photograph a very prestigious Charity Boxing Evening raising funds for military charities in the Great Room . The guest list included the Prime Minister and Prince Harry along with a host of celebrities from the entertainment and sporting worlds. It was a fantastic event run superbly, as always, by the team at Fireball Ltd.

The Sportsmens Christmas Lunch - December 2011

Just before Christmas each year I photograph a sporting Christmas lunch for Fireball Ltd. This years event was held at The Marriott on Grosvenor Square. There is always a really relaxed and friendly feel to this event and as in previous years it to the form of a Sports Quiz with friendly rivalry between the various tables in the room. There were sporting stars from Rugby and Cricket including Darren Gough, Will Greenwood, Steve Thompson, Jason Leonard and Jason Robinson. The event was hosted by Martin Bayfield who did his usual splendid job keeping everyone in order. He was assisted by Masterchef judge Gregg Wallace who said at one point "Quizzes dont get tougher than this "

Avon Vale Hunt Ball December 2011

I was asked at the very last minute to photograph at the Avon Vale Hunt Ball. This was held in early December at the stunning Wicke Farm Venue nr Farliegh Hungerford. I arrived shortly after the meal and the party was in full swing. It was a great atmosphere and the sort of event that I am very much at home photographing. I took loads of photos of the guests enjoying themselves dancing and partying finally leaving in the small hours. Richard and Sadie's December Wedding

I love shooting December Weddings although the light is often challenging the festive spirit always adds to the atmosphere. Richard and Sadie got married at Bath Registry office on a bright but cold December afternoon. After group shots on the steps of the Guildhall the couple stopped off on the way to the reception at Farliegh Castle for some photos of just the two of them. The sun was going down when we arrived but we managed some lovely sunset shots before it was too dark to shoot. The day was rounded off with a party back in Westbury in a converted church which made a great backdrop to the photos.

Boxing at the Hilton on Park Lane.

Last Night I was back in London Photographing an Evening of Boxing at the Hilton on Park Lane. Described as the Battle of Park Lane it was another event brilliantly run by Amanda Heathcote and her team at Fireball Ltd.

There were six bouts with the London Amateur Boxing team taking on the Army Boxing team. The room was full of the Army's top brass, Members of the Household Cavalry Stood on Gaurd at the Doors in full Ceremonial Uniform, The Drum Corps of the Coldsteam Guards performed before the boxing. The evening was rounded off with dancing to Rick Parfitt Jnrs RPJ Band.

LMA Hall of Fame Dinner at Wembley Stadium

The Bobby Moore Suite at Wembley Stadium was last nights venue for the LMA's (League Managers Association) Annual Hall of Fame Dinner. A host of footballs top managers came together to celebrate twenty years of the Premier League and the induction of Carlo Ancelloti to the hall of fame. Managers present included Carlo Ancelloti,Terry Venables, Gianluca Vialli, Ossie Ardilles, Mick McCarthy, David O'Leary and Dave Bassett.

The event run by Fireball Ltd was a great success and an Auction Run by Former Snooker player Willie Thorne raised a large amount for the nights charities.

PR Shots for The Village Pump Folk Festival

Today I was asked to take some publicity shots for The Village Pump Folk Festival at the White Horse Country Park on the outskirts of Westbury.

The photographs which are to be used on the website and on publicity material were of Steve Knightley singer with top folk group Show of Hands who are performing at the festival in July 2012 and festival organiser John Alderslade. I have been the official photographer for the Trowbridge Village Pump Festival for a number of years and this festival was put together by members of the original organising committee when the Trowbridge festival was cancelled.

Royal Wootton Bassett

Today the small town of Wootton Bassett was recognised for the way it conducted the reparation of our soldiers who died serving their country. A ceremony took place in the High St which had seen so many coffins driven along it over the years. The mood was one of sombre celebration not a street party but a very dignified affair. The Princess Royal was their to represent the Queen and hand over "The Letters Patent" which grants the town the right to use the word Royal in front of its name. Also in attendance was The Prime Minister David Cameron and the Defence Secretary Philip Hammond and local MP James Gray. There were flypast's by an RAF Hercules formally based at nearby RAF Lyneham, a CI7 Globemaster and The Avro Vulcan. A march past by Royal Marines Band and members of the armed forces concluded the proceedings. Avery moving day full of colour and great photo opportunities.

The BT British Olympic Ball is one of the most prestigious events of the year, held this year at London's Olympia and attended by over two thousand two hundred people. In the presence of HRH Princess Royal and over 140 British Olympic medallists, more than 80 of them Gold Medal winners. All enjoying a fantastic night of entertainment hosted by presenters Miranda Hart, Steven Fry and Rory Bremner and including performances from Tinchy Stryder and Sir Tom Jones

It was an amazing night and such a privilege to be able to work at this sort of event, as always brilliantly run by Amanda Heathcote and her team at Fireball Ltd

Bunbury's Children in Need Cricket Match

A long drive to Canterbury in Kent for the Bunbury's long awaited Cricket match against Freddie Flintoff's Children in Need side. This game originated as part of the Auction for things money cant buy on Radio 2's Children in need appeal. DJ Chris Evans and Ronnie Irani joined the fun along with many of the Bunbury regulars. Despite a morning of rain the game went ahead and a fun time was had by all.In addition and probably more importantly over £100,000 was raised on the day for BBC Children in Need.

I was back at Wormsley cricket ground to photograph a celebrity cricket match in support of two extremely deserving charities,Help For Heroes and ABF The Soldier’s Charity, on Sunday 10th July. All proceeds from fund-raising on the day to be divided between the two charities.

The Lord’s and Commons cricket team with a few former England Internationals added to the side to make a strong Celebrity X1.Played against Sir John Major’s X1 featuring the full England Women’s Cricket team, This was first time the England Women’s cricket team had played against a men’s celebrity side which includes former England international cricketers.

Ian and Andrea's Wedding

Ian and Andrea got married in Purton on a hot sunny day in July, and then went to the Four Pillars Hotel in the Cotswold Water Park for their reception.

I have photographed a number of weddings at this hotel which is right next to the lake and is a great venue for photography. I love photographing weddings each one is different and its a really special feeling to be playing such an important role in what is such a big day for the Bride and Groom and their families. I never loose site of the fact that its a wedding day not a photo shoot which hopefully means that as well as the posed family photographs there a many images which capture the whole day as it unfolds which will in years to come bring back many happy memories for the couple.

Enland v Austrailia Womens One Day International

At Wormsley England's all conquering women's one day cricket team took on the Australians in the final of the Nat West Triangular tournament. The Sun shone on the beautiful Buckinghamshire ground of Wormsley and the game was a thriller which swung one way then the other. The England ladies eventually came out on top to take the trophy.

Captain Charlotte Edwards lifted the trophy for the home side and the celebrations began with the Champagne flowing freely. Another great day at this marvellous venue, its a privilege to be able to photograph events at venues like this.

The first Flannels for Heroes Cricket Day was held at Burton Court in Chelsea on the 24th June. Four teams played a T20 competition and included a team Captained by Film Star Hugh Grant. The weather was kind and the rain held off until the last few overs of the Final. A large amount was raised for Help for Heroes and Walking with Wounded. As well as Hugh Grant other celebrities attending included Kevin Pietersen and Lord Archer who conducted the very successful Auction.During the day I had the great privilege to meet Jaco Van Gass who was one of the team that walked unsupported to the North Pole. Jaco was seriously wounded in Action in Afghanistan. Loosing an arm and most of a leg. However he was still able to bowl and bat an amazing guy with an amazing attitude and unbelievable determination

I recently had the Honour to photograph the The Royal Marines Sportsman's Dinner at The Hurlingham Club recently.

The evening got off to a rousing start as the Band of the Royal Marines Marched into the Atrium playing their signature tune " A life on the Ocean Wave" The Guests were then treated to a medley of marches which sounded amazing in this fabulous venue.

The theme for the evening was The Rugby World Cup and Stars of the 2003 World Cup Winning side were very much in evidence as were players in training for the 2011 Cup in New Zealand. Sir Clive Woodward proposed the Loyal Toast and then was interviewed by Martin Bayfield this was followed by two Q & A's first with Martin Johnson and Jason Leonard and then Mike Tindall and Lewis Moody. Two of TV's Dragons from the Dragons Den were also guests Theo Paphitis and Deborah Meaden

The evening was rounded off with dancing to Rick Parfitt and the RPJ Band and the Lovely DJ.Laura

Paul and Emily's Wedding

Sometimes when you photograph a wedding the weather is less than helpful and this was one of those occasions. Emily is the sister of a Bride who's wedding I photographed almost four years ago. so I was delighted to be asked to photograph her special day. The day was a mixture of sunshine and torrential downpours, the first of which happened as the Bride arrived at the church. It was also raining as the happy couple were due to leave the church but patience paid of and we waited for a break in the showers and managed to get some formal group shots before the heavens opened again.

On a day like this its lovely to have a couple who are flexible about when the photos are taken and we managed to get the rest of the group shots done back at the reception venue and in the early evening we got some great shots of Paul and Emily down by the river a short distance from the reception venue.

Verity and Rob's Wedding

Verity and Rob's Wedding took place on the 4th June 2011 at the tiny church at Caundle Marsh in Dorset and was followed by a reception at Stalbridge Farm Barn nearby. Verity is my Niece so this was part job and part family celebration. It was a lovely day and a really relaxed and friendly occasion. It was great to see members of the family and some friends I haven't seen for many years.

Charlotte and Craig's wedding was a wonderfully romantic and emotional day. The weather for the most part was sunny with a few blustery showers but these didn't spoil their special day. Charlotte is a personal friend and a professional model and I felt honoured that she asked me to photograph her wedding. The day was very special and everyone who was there had a wonderful time.

The couple loved the photos and I have had a lot of very positive feedback from them and other guests which I'm really pleased about.

I was asked by ex England Cricketer Allan Lamb to photograph a private dinner at the offices of Mizuho Corporate Bank in the city of London. The dining room overlooks St Paul's Cathedral and about thirty staff and clients were treated to a delightful dinner in the company of four top sportsmen. Two of England's Rugby World Cup Winning team Lawrence Dallaglio and Jason Leonard were joined by England cricketers Alan Lamb and Darren Gough.

The sportsmen posed for photographs with the guests in a relaxed atmosphere and then were treated to a Q &; A with all four Sportsmen taking part.

President Obama's State Visit to London

Just a few weeks ago I was in London to photograph the Royal Wedding, yesterday I was back in the capital to attempt to get some photos of The President of the United States of America Barak Obama who is currently on a state visit.

Arriving at Buckingham Palace at just after 11am the first photo opportunity came about 40 minutes later as the Presidential motorcade swept down Constitution Hill and through the gates of the Palace I managed a shot of a Silhouetted Hand of the president as the Limo "The Beast" sped by.

After waiting for a while and photographing marching bands and the the 41 gun salute in green park decided to move to Westminster Abbey where the President was due to be at 3pm. Having secured a slightly elevated position I waited with another Snapper, Paul, who I had met at the Palace. At 3pm the motorcade duly arrived and a smiling and waving President Obama stepped from the car with the first lady Michelle. I managed to get some nice shots before the couple disappeared inside the Abbey. 30 minutes later they emerged hand in hand into the May sunshine still smiling and waving. I managed some really nice shots before they were in the car and Away to Downing St.

On the way back to the Tube Station I passed Downing Street Where a large group of very angry protesters were making their opposition to the visit know. I got some shots of the demo before heading for home tired but happy.

League Managers Association Annual Awards Dinner

I had the enormous privilege of photographing the League Managers Association Annual Awards Dinner again this year. This is the event where the Leagues top football managers celebrate their successes during the previous season.

This years event was held at the Hilton on Park Lane and was attended by a host of Managers both past and present. England's football team manager Fabio Capello presented the awards on stage. Manager of the year went to Alex Ferguson of Manchester United, sadly he wasn't at the event as he had an important match in Manchester.

Celebrities from other sports were also in evidence including Sprinter Michael Johnson and cricketer Devon Malcolm.

Unicorns v Nottinghamshire at Wormsley

The Unicorns took on Nottinghamshire at the beautiful Wormsley Cricket Ground in Buckinghamshire in the Pro 40 league. Nottinghamshire ran out easy winners beating the home sides 220 with 8 overs to spare.

Once again it was a pleasure to work at this Beautiful venue. And I look forward to my next game here in June.

The 2011 Cura Ball at Englefield House

Five years ago I photographed the first Cura Ball at Beaufort Polo Club put on by Astrid St Aubyn and Mia Woodford. This was the second Cura Ball held this time at the Beautiful Englefield House in Berkshire raising funds for Cancer Vaccine Institute, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and The Royal Marsden Hospital. It was if possible an even more lavish event than the first one and attention to every detail was very much in evidence.

The Marquee was set in the park land surrounding the magnificent house and right by the lake. 500 or more guests enjoyed a fantastic evening of good food and wine followed by an Auction and Entertainment from Rory Bremner and then Dancing until 2am to a wonderful band. The first Cura Ball Raised over £500,000 and despite the tougher Economic Climate this one raised even more.

The Bunburys 25th Birthday Ball

The Bunbury Celebrity Cricket Club celebrated 25 years of fun and fund raising with a huge dinner at The Grosvenor House in London. The dinner was run by Fireball Management and was a truly star studded event. There were so many stars it would take the whole of this Post to name them all. Eric Clapton and his band played a set after dinner closely followed by Bill Wyman and the Rhythm Kings. Bunbury's founder David English MBE CBE was in good form with celebrity guests including David Essex, Dennis Waterman, Rory Bremner, Freddie Flintoff,Andrew Strauss, Mark Austin and a Host of International Cricketers

The Bunburys are an amazing group of people who have raised millions for charities of the years and I feel privileged to have been their photographer for 22 years !

Cathy and Geoff's Wedding

This was a last minute change of venue as the venue that was booked went into liquidation a few days before. May day at the idyllic Wormsley photographing Cricket in the Sunshine. It was a great match and despite the weather turning a bit chilly late on a very enjoyable one.

I have been taking photographs for Tim Munton at Wormsley for a number of years now but never tire of this wonderful spot. The cricket pitch set in a valley surrounded by tree lined hills and Red Kites soaring overhead on a warm and sunny day there is no better place to work.

Today was a real challenge I really enjoyed being able to gain access to the fences without having to fight for a view as I have in previous years. A really exiting day of cross country saw Nicola Wilson who I'm coving the event for eliminated on her first horse but ending the day 3rd Overall on her second horse Opposition Buzz. First timer Lucie McNichol putting in a brilliant clear round to leave her in 30th place a fantastic achievement. I was really pleased with the results lets hope that they do the job

The now traditional opening fixture at the magnificent Wormsley Cricket Ground in Buckinghamshire took place on the 17th April. The weather was good with no rain and for most of the day warm spring sunshine. The Unicorns took on Oxford University in a 40 over game. Whilst the invited guests enjoyed a delicious lunch and took in the magnificent scenery. The sky was full of Red Kites one of the many things I love about Wormsley. This is the first of six or seven visits this summer which as always Im really looking forward to

Stephen and Katie's Wedding

Stephen and Katie got married on a warm spring afternoon at the The Compass Inn at Tormarton .It was a rally lovely wedding a very happy occasion and had a very relaxed feel to it. Around fifty guests attended the ceremony and about as many again joined the couple for the evening event.

Spring weddings are always great for photos lots of fresh green leave on the trees spring flowers and blossom. However on this occasion I noticed the field opposite was a carpet of yellow oilseed rape so asked the couple if we could do some photos in the field which they readily agreed to.It made some unusual and really lovely wedding photos.

Jim and Jane had a lovely Spring Wedding with the blossom on the trees and the spring flowers in full flower.

The wedding was held at the Bristol Registry office with the reception at the Glass Boat in Bristol Harbour. The wedding was really lovely and the couple looked very happy.One slightly unusual thing about this wedding was the fact that there were seven bridesmaids and nine page boys.

The BLESMA Soldering on Awards at the Savoy

Sometimes in life you get to meet and photograph people who are " True Heroes" at this event I was privileged to be in a room full of them at the Blesma ( British Limbless Ex Service Men's Association) Soldiering on awards at Savoy a truly humbling experience and an honour to be asked to photograph such an event.

A host of celebrities, including Anthony Andrews, Andrew Sachs, Rick Wakeman, Tom O'connor John Prescott, Peter Strifellow and The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were there to hand out awards to servicemen and women who have lost limbs whilst serving their country. The evening was hosted by Gloria Hunniford and Paul Martin.

This was a really moving event and I hope it will become a regular fixture in the diary.

The Second game for me in this years Six Nations and once again I'm delighted to be working with Green Room Sports Management at the England home matches at Twickenham. I have done this for the past three years and before that for a another company.

This match was a 3pm kick off I have to be on site four hours before kick off. I work in one of the hospitality suites photographing their clients with the Rugby stars and other celebrities. There is a Q & A with four Rugby Stars to photograph before the kick off .Then off to watch the game, which is always a great privilege, made more enjoyable when England win as they did today. Its always good to see England beat Scotland. Then back to the Hospitality suite for post match tea and Analysis by Lawrence Dallaglio and Will Greenwood.

I was in Taunton to photograph a wedding, I often travel to photograph weddings but this was my first Somerset wedding for some time. Stuart and Catherine got married at the Taunton Registry office before heading off to a local beauty spot in the Mendip hills for a blessing. Stuart is the Master of The Taunton Vale Foxhounds and so after the blessing there was a hunt meet. This was followed by an evening event in a local pub. This was a really happy occasion and was blessed with a warm and sunny early spring day.

James Foster Benefit Launch Event

I was honoured to be asked to Photograph the Launch Event for James Fosters Benefit year. James has played Cricket for Essex and England for many years and I have met him at many cricket functions and he has played many times either for or against the Bunbury's

The event was held at the Armourers Hall in the City of London an amazing venue with all manor of suits of Amour lining the walls. Guests included the great and the good of Cricket including Freddie Flintoff, Alec Stewart, Monty Panasar, Mark Ramprkash Michael Holding and Alistair Cook. The evening was also graced with presence of a Hollywood A list star Ray Winstone.

England v France at Twickenham for The Green Room

Its Six Nations time and once again I'm delighted to be working with Green Room Sports Management at the England home matches at Twickenham. I have done this for the past three years and before that for a another company.

This match was a 5pm kick off so not such an early start as sometimes, I have to be on site four hours before kick off. I work in one of the hospitality suites photographing their clients with the Rugby stars and other celebrities. There is a Q & A with four Rugby Stars to photograph before the kick off .Then off to watch the game, which is always a great privilege, made more enjoyable when England win as they did today. Its always good to beat the French. Then back to the Hospitality suite for post match tea and Analysis by Lawrence Dallaglio and Will Greenwood. Looking forward to returning for the match on the 13th against Scotland.

Celebrities attending were Lawrence Dallaglio, Will Greenwood, Jeremy Gusscott, Serge Betson, Alec Stewart, Mark Nicholas, Michelle Roux, Greg Wallace and Ray Wilkins

London Wasps Training Day

Tuesday found me back at Twyford Rd in Acton at the London Wasps Rugby Teams training ground. This was my third visit here to Photograph another group of kids who during their half term holiday had come to see the Wasps Team train and also to join in with the session. The event was organised by Logan Sports Management for the Wasps Sponsors EMC . It was a fun day and the kids had a great time meeting the players, training with them ,having lunch with them and taking part in a Q and A with a couple of the star players.

Conference Photography

One of the areas I often photograph is Corporate Conferences. Yesterday I photographed a conference for a large multi national company at a beautiful venue, Notley Abbey, which just outside Aylesbury.

It was an interesting day and the conference was rounded off by guest motivational speaker Steve Williams, twice an Olympic Gold Medallist in the Uncoxed Fours Rowing, who spoke with amazing passion about his Olympic experiences and showed off his two gold medals won at the games in Athens and Beijing

Thanks to an introduction from fellow MPA Photographer Sarah Paterson I had the pleasure of meeting with Mike and Bev Brimble to take some photos for the Instinct Cricket Website. Mike makes Cricket bats and is in the process of launching a new range of equipment. Bev was the model for the shoot which I did on location at there house in Dorset. Below are a couple of images from the shoot.

I wish them every success with the launch and look forward to working with them again in the future.

DHB Website Makeover and Branding

Over the past month you may have noticed significant changes to my websites, I hope that you will think these changes are positive. Although I accept that change can cause short term issues in the long term I hope you will find the new sites easier to navigate and to view with increased functionality.

I have taken the opportunity to update my logo which no longer fitted in with the colour scheme I have adopted. All sites now carry the logo and with the exception of the main DHB Photography site the logo links back to the main site. Colours and fonts have been standardised to give a coherent feel to the visitor. The only exception to the main colour scheme is the DHB Weddings site which I feel doesn't work as well with a black colour scheme, white seems more appropriate. However if you disagree please let me know.
